Right to Life and Freedom of Choice
I personally do not believe in abortions and I dislike the idea that my tax dollars should support abortions. But, the argument that a woman should have full control and the right to decide matters of her health and body, with the presumption that an embryo’s life is hers to make life or dead decisions over. In the matter of a young child in a divorce court case, the court can appoint a “Guardian ad Litem†to represent the interests of the child. In the case of an unborn child, this right of the child does not exist. WAIT, does the father have any rights in this process? The commonly accepted ruling is, NO. I take this very personally. I had a former wife who got pregnant while we were married and wanted an abortion. There was nothing I could do to persuade her not to do it and I had no legal recourse for help. Afterwards, she told me it was a male child that she aborted. Not that the gender mattered but she saw the gender. I still have great anguish over the thought that I should have had another son, a brother for my boys.
To save a woman’s life or in the case of rape or incest, I support abortion. There is more than physical medical issues regarding the health of the woman. There is also the mental, psychological health of the woman. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) afflicts more than military personnel. It can effect anyone who has had a traumatic experience in their life.
