We The People

“We The People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Our founding fathers envisioned that a county “of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth (from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address). Our government embodies the principle of governship “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. We need “WE THE PEOPLE” in our government, not professional politicians who give their ear to political parties and special interest groups. This becomes particularly onerous when powerful groups and individuals contribute large amounts of money to the election of politicians -- there is an extremely large correlation between the amount of money spent on an election and the winner of the election. It would seem then, that money is a greater determinate of the outcome of an election over values of integrity, honor, and skill to govern and represent We The People. This can only result in more politicians in office and fewer We The People.
